UK The European Capital for Medical Treatment

In the past, the United Kingdom was known for its fog and mist, but during the past few years, it has been deservingly dubbed Europe’s treatment capital. This well-established deep-rooted country is backed by years of expertise, research and international prizes and awards in different medical fields, making it the perfect destination for anyone seeking treatment for an incurable disease or wishing to solve a tough health-related problem.

Speaking about treatment facilities in the U.K. can be broad and divergent, due to its different aspects that will all entice the curiosity of both readers and those seeking treatment for terminal diseases, to say the least.

Doctors in the U.K. have achieved unprecedented results in finding solutions and establishing important scientific successes, making those who seek it for treatment all the more hopeful. Patients travel along with members of their families on a trip seeking medical treatment which quickly turns into a kind of therapeutic tourism. The U.K. has become aware of this phenomenon and created the necessary laws and systems to optimize its benefit for all.
When talking about treatments, some consider that the research conducted by U.K. hospitals puts them at the forefront of treatment for certain illnesses. This applies, especially, on stem cell research on which rely numerous modern treatments, given that it is the most ideal, most successful and is the greatest guaranteed cure for certain conditions.
On the other hand, others consider that diabetes-related research is very advanced in that ancient part of the European continent. Moreover, the U.K. excels in another vital domain: plastic surgery. In fact, for the past few years, the plastic surgery industry has been growing in popularity and is still considered among the principal reasons to seek treatment abroad. This is due to the fact that undergoing plastic surgery in a foreign country grants the patient the much-needed privacy, giving them the chance to dodge embarrassing and noisy questions and enough time to recover.
The U.K. is also visited by a number of patients, from both the Arab world and the West, who need surgery performed on their bones, heart and teeth…
When tackling the issue of the many health-care services provided in the U.K., some Arab embassies attempted to list the names of certain hospitals so that Arab patients can have their pick. Among those health facilities, we can find:
Royal Promton & Harfield

Charing Cross Hospital
Hammersmith Hospital
Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea Hospital
St Mary’s Hospital
Western Eye Hospital

Great Ormond Street Hospital (for children) as well as other hospitals, treatment centers and clinics whose notoriety and competencies precede them.

National Health
Service Center
The United Kingdom attaches great importance to the issue of hospitalization to the extent that the following website:
www.nhs.uk was dedicated for this sole purpose. The website helps people find the appropriate solutions and head to the specialized clinics.
The website for the National Health Service provides detailed information on the hospitalization system in England, Scotland, Wales and North Ireland, in addition to the latest news on research, diseases and medications, as well as all other activities that would interest patients and those seeking treatment.
The website does not fail to mention the hospitals and doctors’ addresses according to their specializations and needs. The website mostly aims at providing the patient with all accurate information on their condition to choose the right treatment center or doctor.
It is worth mentioning that the regulatory authority is keen on avoiding any medical mistakes. In fact, the U.K. has the lowest mistake rate worldwide and the terms of medical practitioners impose a high level of competency, skills and knowledge. A doctor is supposed to undergo training for at least five years, after the major they specialize in.

Prestigious Clinics
and Hospitals
The U.K. is endowed with a network of public clinics internationally renowned in different fields. Some hospitals own a number of treatment centers spread inside and outside the United Kingdom. Spire Healthcare Group is an example of such a network. The group owns around 40 hospitals located in different parts of Great Britain, including three centers in London. The group is keen on meeting all medical needs for patients coming from abroad. It also works in close collaboration with embassies, health and military bureaus, athletic teams and companies working with international medical services.
Other examples are the Harley Street Clinic, London Bridge Hospital, Lister Hospital, Portland Hospital, Princess Grace Hospital, Cromwell Hospital and others.

Custom-made Services
for Arab Patients
Hospitals are endeavoring to provide services specially catered to Arab patients who can acquire a medical visa, which speeds up their travelling arrangements for treatment purposes. Some treatment centers provide hospitalization services by hiring bilingual staff speaking both Arabic and English to facilitate communication with the patient. Hotels were built around most major hospitals to ensure that the patients’ family members or companions a comfortable stay.
Numerous treatment facilities offer their services in great secrecy to preserve the patient’s privacy. For that purpose, patients can stay in private and luxurious suites and whoever is accompanying them will be allocated a room. Moreover, members of the staff are specially trained on hosting and working with VIPs.
The majority of clinics and treatment facilities collaborate with official bodies so they welcome patients whose medical fees are paid by their states and embassies. They help as well with the official documentations and papers, set convenient dates and adopt simple measures such as sending an application form to the embassy filled with the patient’s personal and medical information, and the reason and nature of the treatment.
Whether treatment is provided at the expense of the state or the patient, it is safe to confirm that, when it comes to treatment, hospitalization and internationally advanced modern medical services, the U.K. is indisputably a pioneer on the global scale. One can also claim that it has become Europe’s treatment capital.
